DAY 1 – ARRIVAL IN BANGKOK
Well, we are here... in Thailand. After 14 hours of flight, 1 transfer in London (including snow delays, two frozen wings and the longest taxi known to man), 3 in flight movies and maybe just 4 hours of sleep, we are finally here! We arrived in Bangkok around 16.30 local time. The guy who picked us up at the airport immediately got us booked for a tour of the temples tomorrow. After some confusion over the price (1400 Bath is 30 dollars pp, NOT as we first thought, 300, which would´ve been just crazy!) we made a deal. (Cash up front!)
The hotel is very nice and looks pretty luxurious: great view and even a rooftop pool! The hotel seems to be a frequent Arab hangout, since all the guests we`ve seen where either Arab or western. So a lot of veiled faces, halal food, burkas and even a sheik in a wheelchair.
As night had fallen over Bangkok, we sat on the rooftop next to the pool and had a Thai beer. It`s winter, so it was `only` 33 Degrees. (I don´t even WANT to know how fuckin hot it`s gonna be tomorrow!) In the hotel restaurant we had a good salad and a steak sandwich. Only Silvia ate some Thai food. I´ll spare my stomach till tomorrow, after all that stale plain food I had today. The employees are all smiles and bows and `yes please`, I guess they`re really taking this customer service thing very serious.
So it was a good start of our travels. Minimal delays, we didn´t crash and the hotel is very nice.
